Ispent years walking into rooms where men had already decided. As a military chaplain, I sat with the ones who came back wearing the uniform but not the man. I prayed over caskets. I held wives. I watched fathers come home and disappear inside their own houses.
Then I spent nearly a decade running an international student placement organization, learning what it costs to move a person — really move them — from one country to another. I learned the logistics of transformation. I learned what a covered transition looks like. And I never stopped thinking about the warrior who got off the bus alone.
Battleworn Legacy was the answer for the businessmen — the leaders carrying a different weight in a different theater. Battleworn Foundation is the answer for the men who carried the literal weight, and who will never spend their own money to get free.
I owe these men. We all do. The Foundation is how I pay it.

There is no part of his life that he gets to keep off the table. Not the trauma. Not the rage. Not the pride that kept him alive on patrol. Convergence is the altar where it all comes down.
We are not in the business of crowning men. There is one King. Our men leave Convergence kneeling, not strutting. The brotherhood that follows is for the foot of the cross, not the throne.
A man who is right with God is a husband who comes home, a father who shows up, a brother who answers the phone. We measure the work in the rooms he walks back into.
And he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Battleworn Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity. We raise funds from individuals, families, churches, businesses, and other foundations to fully cover the cost of Convergence for qualified military veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders.
Battleworn Legacy is a separate for-profit Christ-centered leadership organization that operates the Convergence Program and serves businessmen, executives, and leaders through its own funded tracks. The Foundation pays Legacy a per-seat fee — at or below cost — to place its funded warriors into Convergence cohorts.
We name the relationship plainly. Donor dollars buy seats for warriors, not anything else. Annual financials are public. Ask any question, of anyone, at any time.
Trent McMurtrey serves as Owner and Founder of Battleworn Legacy and Battleworn Foundation with a clear understanding: this mission cannot be carried alone. He knows he needs strong, God-fearing men around him – men willing to lock arms, speak truth, and stand firm with him.
Born and raised in Forsyth, Montana – one of eight siblings. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Upon completion of his initial enlistment, he returned to Forsyth for a short time before leaving to attend college at Eastern Montana College.
Dr. Greene‘s educational career spans over 40 years in the United States and abroad, and includes a BS degree in Science education, a masters degree in administration and supervision and a doctoral degree in educational leadership.
We fully fund military veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders to attend the Convergence Program. Christ-centered. Donor-covered. Brother-kept.
